Why this exists

Removing a background used to mean opening Photoshop or paying per-image on a site that uploads your photo to a server somewhere. This does the same job for free, using an open-source AI model that runs directly on your device — good for product photos, profile pictures, thumbnails, or just cutting yourself out of a picture.

Good to know: the first run in a browser tab downloads the AI model (a one-time download per visit), so the very first image takes a bit longer to process. After that, it's fast.
